Manufacturers and suppliers of photovoltaic storage batteries will have to meet a wider range of requirements under the new EU Battery Regulation. Many companies are still unsure what this means for their product designs, processes and management systems. Yalcin Ölmez, head of the operations and investment risk department at German test institute TÜV SÜD, explains what companies need to consider now.
The new EU battery regulation will gradually impose expanded and partly new requirements on battery manufacturers, importers, distributors and “service providers”. The legislation applies to all batteries without exception. The legislative requirements vary depending on the type of battery and application, such as electric vehicles or power storage, cell phone batteries or small battery systems.
The legislation includes the designation of a product carbon footprint, mandatory recycled content, a product digital passport or an extended supply chain duty of care. The regulation defines battery service companies as installers, recyclers, repairers, testing and certification companies, logistics and disposal companies.
Under the upcoming EU Battery Regulation, manufacturers must comply with new standards, including carbon footprint reporting and digital passports. ACE Battery ensures our products meet these stringent requirements, delivering sustainable, compliant solutions for photovoltaic storage, electric vehicles, and more. Our commitment to quality and sustainability positions ACE Battery as a trusted partner in the evolving energy storage industry.
