$4k rebates for solar batteries has been given to Queensland

2024-02-27

Queenslanders now have the opportunity to save money on their electricity bills with the launch of a new government program.

The Battery Booster program, introduced by Queensland’s Minister for Energy and Clean Economy Jobs Mick de Brenni, offers rebates of up to $4000 for around 2000 eligible households to install solar battery systems.

The goal of the program is to help households reduce their electricity costs by using solar energy and storing it for later use.

Through this $10 million initiative, households with a new or existing solar PV system of at least 5 kilowatts can receive rebates between $3000 and $4000, based on their annual taxable income.

Households with a combined annual income of $180,000 or less qualify for a $3000 rebate, while those earning below $66,667 annually can get the higher rebate of $4000.

To be eligible for the rebates, homeowners must select approved installers and battery systems.

Minister de Brenni explained that the program aims to help Queenslanders take advantage of the state’s abundant sunshine for both financial and environmental benefits.

With around 150 rooftop solar installations occurring daily, Queensland has the highest rate of rooftop solar installations in the country. It is clear that Queenslanders are eager to embrace renewable energy and all the benefits it brings.

The new Battery Booster program encourages eligible households to make the most of Queensland’s sunny weather to lower their energy bills.

The initiative is designed for households that may not have considered purchasing a solar battery system before but are interested in reducing their carbon footprint and energy costs.
