On January 13, the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy announced the opening of its subsidy program for energy storage systems for businesses.
With a total budget of €153.7 million, the program is open to enterprises of all sizes and sectors, supporting the installation of battery storage systems for both planned and existing photovoltaic systems. However, only the storage component is subsidized.
The subsidy percentage varies based on company size, with 30% for large companies, 40% for SMEs, and 50% for micro and small enterprises. Funding will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The grant will cover costs related to the supply and installation of battery storage systems, including ancillary equipment (such as smart meters and cables), energy management systems, system sizing, project management consultancy, and grid connection to HEDNO and IPTO. Of the total budget, €100 million is designated for micro and small enterprises, while the remaining funds are allocated to medium and large companies. Eligible businesses must have been operating in Greece by June 30, 2024.
