French Startup Unveils Innovative Aluminum Solar Carports

In response to France's stringent environmental regulations—the Climate and Resilience Act (2021) and the subsequent APER Act (2023)—all outdoor parking lots exceeding 1,500 square meters are mandated to install photovoltaic (PV) canopies covering at least 50% of their area by 2026–2028. To address this legislative requirement, Closura, a pioneering startup based in Le Thou, southwestern France, introduces a range of customizable solar carports available in ready-to-install or plug-and-play configurations. The company’s flagship innovation lies in its use of marine-grade aluminum—a material celebrated for its exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and lightweight design.

Designed for parking lot operators, local governments, and large commercial complexes, Closura’s 100% French-made canopies seamlessly blend robustness, aesthetic appeal (standard finishes in RAL 7016 or RAL 9010 frosted gray), and high performance. With a power output of up to 7.5 kWp (dependent on carport dimensions), the modular design enables flexible, site-specific installations tailored to optimize parking layouts and solar efficiency.

The carport’s aluminum structure, supported by four 110 mm cross-section posts, offers a 25-year guarantee and two installation options: direct anchoring or reinforced plate mounting. The roof’s slope is precision-engineered (5–10 degrees) to maximize solar energy production. Optional upgrades include corner-post removal for enhanced accessibility, EV charging ports, energy monitoring gateways, integrated rainwater gutters, and aluminum enclosure screens, ensuring adaptability to diverse operational needs.
